GUIDELINES FOR  SUBMITTING MANUSCRIPT:

 

Information for Authors:

The BAFM Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology accepts manuscript submissions through e-mail.

The BAFM Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology has specific instructions and guidelines for submitting articles for publicationAuthors are requested to read the instructions carefully before submission. Articles that are not submitted in accordance with instructions and guidelines mentioned here are more likely to be rejected. Articles are subject to the Journal’s standard peer-review process and will be accepted or rejected based on their own merit.

INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES:

 

  • Ethical/Legal Considerations:

 

  • The submitted manuscript must be an original contribution and not previously published in any other online of offline journal and also must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal.
  • If it is accepted for publication in this Journal, it cannot be published in any other journal in similar form, in any language without the consent of BAFM Journal Editorial Board.
  • Each person whose names are listed as an author is expected to have participated in the study to a significant extent within their own capacity and limitations.
  • Though the Editorial Board will make every possible effort to ensure the validity and originality of published manuscripts, the final and ultimate responsibility rests with the authors, not with the Journal, its editors, or the publisher. 
  • All manuscripts must be submitted on-line through the journal's email address.

 

 

  • Subject Anonymity and Informed Consent:

 

    • While doing study on living subjects, it is the responsibility of the authors to protect the patient’s anonymity.
    • Any experimental investigation with human subjects mentioned in the manuscript must be performed with informed consent.
    • The Authors must follow all the guidelines for experimental investigations with human subjects required by the institution(s) with which all the authors are affiliated along with guidelines laid down by ICMR.
    • Authors should remove subjects’ names and other identifying information which could disclose the identity of the subjects participated in the study.
    • If any identifying particulars appear in any text, tables, and/or figures, the authors must provide proof of informed consent obtained from the subject for the same (i.e., a signed informed consent form).

 

  • Photographs with bars placed over eyes of subjects wherever applicable preferably not be used in publication. If they are used, permission from the subject is required.
  • Conflicts of interest:

 

  • Authors must mention all possible conflicts of interest in the manuscript, including financial, institutional, consultant and other relationships that might cause bias or a conflict of interest.
  • If there is no conflict of interest, this also must be explicitly stated as none declared.
  • All sources of funding should be acknowledged properly in the manuscript with relevant proof for the same. 
  • Copyright: 

Each author must submit the journal's copyright transfer agreement, which includes a section on the disclosure of potential conflicts of interest based on the recommendations of the Editorial Board.

    • Processing and Publication fee: at present there is no processing and publication fee

 

  • Preparation of Manuscript:

 

Manuscripts that do abide by the following instructions will be returned to the corresponding author for revision before undergoing peer review.

Word limit 2500-3000 words in MSWORD Format

  • Title page: Title page must be submitted as a separate file. It includes: (a) complete manuscript title; (b) authors' full names, highest academic degrees, and affiliations; (c) name and address for correspondence, including telephone number and e-mail address; (d) all sources of support that require acknowledgment.
  • Abstract and key words: Abstract must be submitted as a separate file. Limit the abstract to 250 words. Limit the use of abbreviations and acronyms. Limit the key words to 5.
  • Text: Organize the manuscript in the following headings: Introduction, Review of literature (wherever applicable) Materials and Methods, Results and analysis, Discussion, Summary and Conclusion. If possible limitation of the study and future scopes can be added if required. Define abbreviations at first mention in text and in each table and figure. Authors must acknowledge all forms of support, including pharmaceutical and industry support, in a separate Acknowledgments paragraph.
  • References: The authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of the references they mention in their study. Authors should cite the references in text in the order of appearance. If there are more than three authors in any reference, name only the first three authors and then use et al. Put the References in Vancouver style.

 

  • Digital Artwork Guideline:
    Please follow these guidelines before submitting your digital artwork:
  • Crop out unnecessary white or black space surrounding the image.
  • Diagrams, drawings and graphs must be saved at a resolution of at least 1200 dpi.
  • Photographs and radiographs must be saved at a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
  • Photographs and radiographs with text must be saved at a resolution of at least 600 dpi.
  • Put figures consecutively in your manuscript.
  • Number figures in the figure legend in the order in which they are placed in manuscript.
